Shadow Program Committee

This year, ASIACCS is experimenting with a Shadow PC (SPC). In contrast to the conventional idea of SPC, this time the SPC will play an important role, not only for the purpose of review quality control but also for the outcome of the final review decisions. The SPC is composed of a combination of senior and junior members of the community, including PhD students. The purpose of the SPC is to ensure high-quality reviews for all submitted papers. It is relatively easy to identify reviews that are too short or too vague; however, it is much more difficult to identify sub-par reviews that are off-base or irrational. While such reviews should be identified during the normal reviewing process, it is not always the case. To provide more detailed review quality control, each paper will be assigned to and reviewed by a member of the SPC.

Each SPC member will be responsible for not only reviewing assigned papers but also assessing reviews written by the main PC. SPC reviews will be made available to the main PC reviewers, considered during the PC discussion, and returned to paper authors along with PC reviews. SPC assessments will be anonymously sent to the PC chairs, who will then verify and take appropriate measures on PC reviews.
